Toshiro Nishizawa is Deputy Director General of International FinanceDepartment I (Asia and Oceania) at Japan Bank for InternationalCooperation (JBIC) since July 2004 and serves as Chair of the UNEP FIAsia Pacific Task Force Outreach Group. Immediately prior to hiscurrent position, he was a Director and Senior Economist in JBIC'sCountry Economic Analysis Department (1999-2004). He has held variouspositions including: a loan officer in charge of lending operations inAfrica, the Middle East and Central Asia at the Export-Import Bank ofJapan (1988-90, 1993-94); a researcher in Economic Cooperation Bureauof the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1990-93); an economist in thePolicy Development and Review Department of the IMF (1994-97); Advisorin the Private Sector Development Department of the World Bank(1998-99). Mr. Nishizawa holds a BA in economics from the University ofTokyo (1984) and a MSc in economics from the University ofWisconsin-Madison (1988). A national of Japan, Mr. Nishizawa is married with two children.
