• After a short spell, he joined Komatsu Europe, a Japanesemultinational with European headquarters in Brussels, where he createda European legal department.
• He joined Ford Motor Company in Belgium in 1985 to handle all legalaffairs. In 1988, he joined the European legal department of Ford inEurope. In 1993 he joined the Governmental Affairs team of Ford inBrussels handling European lobbying issues. In 1996, he wasappointed as the head of Governmental Affairs for Ford in Europe. In 2000, he was appointed as Executive Director of EuropeanGovernmental Affairs for all Ford Motor Company brands in Europeincluding Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo.
• In January 2006, he joined Mittal Steel as Director GovernmentalAffairs. In September 2006, he was appointed Vice PresidentInternational Affairs and Sustainable Development of Arcelor Mittal.
