Paul Hohnen is an independent Amsterdam-based consultant onsustainable development and CSR issues. He has worked intensivelysince 1975 on global economic, development and environmental issues asa diplomat, international civil servant, Director of GreenpeaceInternational, Strategic Director of the Global Reporting Initiative(GRI), and as consultant to the government, business and non-profitsectors.
Trained as an international lawyer, Hohnen worked from 1975 to 1989 asan Australian diplomat at the OECD inParis, to the EU institutions, andin Fiji and Sri Lanka. He was closely involved in the 1992 and 2002Earth Summit processes, and has personally participated in thenegotiation of a wide range environmental conventions, including onclimate change.
As Director of Strategic Development for the Global ReportingInitiative (GRI), Hohnen served on the OECD Expert Panel on CSR, andthe ISO Advisory Group on Social Responsibility. Frequently invited toact as a conference facilitator, Hohnen has been a keynote speaker at avariety of high-level business, government and NGO forums. Hohnen is anAssociate Fellow of the Royal Institute for International Affairs(Chatham House), a member of the SRI Advisory Committee of HendersonGlobal Investors, a Special Adviser to the GRI, and a board member ofGreenpeace Mediterranean.
