Michael R. Mitchell is director of corporate communications atChiquita, a leading international marketer, producer and distributor ofquality bananas and other fresh produce based in Cincinnati, Ohio.Mitchell joined Chiquita in 2002 and oversees the company's mediarelations, investor relations, employee communications and publicrelations efforts, including corporate responsibility reporting.
Prior to joining Chiquita, Mitchell served as director of publicrelations and manager of marketing communications at AG CommunicationSystems, a subsidiary of Lucent Technologies. He was manager ofemployee communications at Phelps Dodge Corporation and manager ofcorporate communications at America West Airlines.
He earned a master of international management degree with honors fromThunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management,and master of arts in mass communications and bachelor of arts injournalism degrees from Drake University. Mitchell also spent a year inLima, Peru, as a Fulbright Scholar.
