Michael Liebreich is the Founder and CEO of New Energy Finance Limited,a specialist provider of financial information and associated servicesto investors in renewable energy, low-carbon technologies and thecarbon markets. Services include news and newsletters, the world’slargest database of clean energy investment transactions, research,reports, consultancy, price and market forecasting.
Michael is an experienced venture capitalist and entrepreneur who hashelped build more than 25 companies. Before founding New Energy Financeearly in 2004, he was UK Managing Director of a division of GroupeArnault which invested 0m of technology venture capital. From 1995to 1998 Michael was Deputy Managing Director of Associated PressTelevision and Founding Director of Sports News Television, the world’sleading wholesale provider of sports news video. At the same time heacted as non-executive director of Interactive Investor. Before that,Michael spent 5 years with McKinsey & Company in their Londonoffice focusing on operations and finance.
Michael has a Master of Arts in Engineering with First Class Honoursfrom Cambridge University, winning the Wyatt Prize for Engineering andthe Ricardo Prize for Thermodynamics. He has MBA from Harvard GraduateSchool of Business, where he was a Harkness Fellow and Baker Scholar.Michael speaks fluent German and French, and good Spanish. From 1986 to1993 he was a member of the British Ski Team, competing in the WorldCup and the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games.
