Luisa MONTES is excecutive director and founder of Ecobanca, aninstitution specialized in financing sustainable development projects.Previously, she worked in the Mexican Ministry of Environment andNatural Resources as director of biodiversity and genetic resourcesdeveloping legal, economic and finacial instruments to promote itssustainable use. She has been involved in developing new and innovativefinancial mechanisms and economic instruments both at the national andinternational level. She participated in the Group of Experts onFinancial Issues of Agenda 21 and followed negociations leading toJohannesburg. She is also developing a SD conflict negociation and teambuilding center. She also works with the private sector in order toincrease awareness and participation of private companies inenvironmental projects. Previously, she held positions in the financialsector both in banking and brokerage firms doing marketing andmacroeconomic research. She majored in economics and finance in MexicoCity and has a master's degree in environment and economic developmentfrom the London School of Economics and Political Science.
