Jeff has spent the last 8 years working with companies definingeffective strategies for their base of the pyramid businesses. Workingthrough theWorld Business Council for Sustainable Development as a network and platformand as a consultant to companies Jeff has traveled to over 30countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America helping companies from across industry sectors to analyze and execute upon the different BOP strategies and opportunities available to them. Over the last two years Jeff has been working with both the Dutch government (SNV) and USAID's GDA program to build effective allianceson the ground that combine public and private resources to generateinclusive businesses throughout Latin America and Africa. These activitieshave seen Jeff engage with hundreds of CEO's throughout the targetregions, as well as in Europe and the US and has generated over 50 BOPconcepts with 7 active BOP business opportunities that are currentlyunder development in Latin America alone. Jeff is the founder of Origo and as a connector of both concepts and people and an attractor of capital and other resources, Jeff has been responsible for the disbursement of millions of dollars intosustainable livelihoods projects. His thinking was shaped by stints inboth the private and public areas, including early experiences as ateacher setting up a school for children with learning disabilities. In1994 Jeff worked with industrialist Stephen Schmidheiny to help set up AVINA foundation inMallorca, Spain, to invest in sustainable development projects. In addition to his work with companies Jeff has has advised a varietyof civil society organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund, theWorld Economic Forum, the Global Exchange for Social Development(GEXSI), Charity Bank and a number of bilateral and multilateral donoragencies.
