James and Safia Minney founded People Tree in 1991 in Japan, and in the United Kingdom in 2001. A graduate of Balliol College, Oxford, James went on to a 20-year career in Investment Management, working with leading names such as Warburg Asset Management (now part of Merril Lynch), and most recently as Chief Investment Officer of a top-20 Investment Management Company in Tokyo – uniquely in this sector, an example of a joint venture between Japanese and foreign partners.
Throughout this career James has also supervised the financing and operational development of People Tree's two companies, and has recently joined the organisation full time.
