Ivo is a Chartered International Investment Analyst and holds the degree of Swiss portfolio manager. He was previously Head of Rating and Index Research at SAM Sustainable Asset Management. In this function he was responsible for developing SAM\'s research and investment processes and of leading the research team in charge of the analysis of over 1,000 companies in 50 sectors world-wide for the Dow Jones Sustainability World and STOXX Indexes.
Previously, he was Head of Corporate Environmental Management at Swiss Reinsurance Co. in charge of developing the company\'s sustainability strategy, of introducing a group-wide environmental management system and of assisting divisions in managing risks and identifying business opportunities related to climate change and sustainability. In this function he was advisor to the manager of Swiss Re\'s sustainability investment portfolio. In previous years he has worked in the field of energy and climate policy analysis in Switzerland, the US and Germany. He has also gained experience in the industrials and chemical/pharmaceutical sectors.
Ivo studied process engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), followed by post-graduate studies in environmental law, economics and science at the University of Zurich and a doctoral thesis on full-fuel cycle assessment of energy systems at ETH. Ivo has been a founding member of the UNEP Financial Services Insurance initiative and a co-chair of the Global Reporting Initiative\'s Measurement Working Group.Main Areas of Expertise
* Integration of sustainability in investment strategy and investment process development
* Quantitative and qualitative analysis of value creation processes within companies, with a focus on intangible assets
* Assessment of environmental, social and economic risks and opportunities for different industrial sectors (main focus areas: climate change and corporate governance; energy and financial sectors)
* Assessment of asset managers and research providers with respect to their sustainability performance
* Development of reporting systems and metrics for companies, with a focus on stakeholder needs in reporting
* Facilitation work for international professional bodies involving a diverse range of stakeholder groups
* Operationalisation of the sustainability concept for insurance companies and in the context of risk assessment and rating systems.
