Dr Harrie Vredenburg is Professor and Suncor Energy Chair in Competitive Strategy and Sustainable Development at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, where he is also Director of the TransCanada International Institute for Resource Industries and Sustainability Studies. He teaches MBA and MSc courses on Managing Social and Environmental Issues in the Global Marketplace, Strategies for Sustainable Development, and Strategic Environmental Planning for Energy Firms in both Haskayne's Canadian and South American programs. He also serves each year on the faculty of the European Summer School for Advanced Management (ESSAM). With his colleagues and PhD students he has carried out research which has appeared in leading international management journals including Strategic Management Journal, MIT Sloan Management Review, Organization Science and others. The Haskayne School of Business has, under Dr Vredenburg's leadership, been ranked by the World Resources Institute and the Aspen Institute as one of the top business schools in the world in researching social and environmental stewartship. 11/6/03: The Effect of Corporate Sustainable Development Strategies on Institutional Investors.
