Clive Mason is an independent consultant and former Head of theInternational Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Sustainable Financial MarketsFacility in Washington DC. Prior to joining IFC, Clive was based in SEAsia and China where he ran a number of organizations in theenvironment industry, involving cleaner production, renewable energyand energy efficiency, and environmental technology transfer. Hiscareer record includes working in over fifty countries with long-termresidency in five. He established, and then ran, the Environment Agencyfor the Dubai Govt. in the UAE, and has held directorships ofEnvironmental Management Ltd and Halcrow Group (both UK), AEATechnology Singapore and AEA Technology Thailand Ltd, where he was theCEO, and the Regional Institute of Environmental Technology inSingapore and was the inaugural Chair of the Asia Pacific Institute ofEnvironmental Assessment in Malaysia. In a career spanning 30 years hehas worked exclusively on business and environment for the financialsector, industry and government. He co-authored “EnvironmentalManagement in Asia” in 1997, and was a contributor/editor to the IFCpublications; “Beyond Risk” (2003) and “Banking on Sustainability”(2007). Currently he is assessing the environmental effectiveness ofIFC’s projects and programs and is Senior Advisor to the World Bank’ssustainable energy program in Thailand.
