Mr Bill Hartnett, joined the company in
2005 after having gained extensive
experience in sustainable investment
related research and product
development as part of a 14 year career
in the finance and investment industry.
From 1994 to 2000 Bill worked at
Westpac Banking Corporation in corporate banking, strategy and fundsmanagement roles including from 1999- 2000 where he worked on theproduct management and communication for the Westpac (now BT)Australian Eco Share Fund – the first ‘best of sector’ SRI fund offeredto Australian superannuation funds. From 2000 to 2003 Bill developedand was the Manager of the Challenger Socially Responsive InvestmentFund (SRI Fund). This was the first mainstream Australian shareSRI fund in Australia to incorporate both negative and positivescreening criteria within the stock selection and portfolioconstruction process, which has proved a popular approach for SRI fundsestablished over the last 3-5 years. The fund won the inaugural“Ethical Fund of the Year 2001” from Ethical Investor Magazine. Bill’squalifications include a Masters of Environmental Management fromUniversity of NSW (2004 for which he was awarded the EnvironmentInstitute of Australia and New Zealand Prize) and a Bachelor ofEconomic Degree (with double major in economics and sociology) fromMacquarie University (1992). Bill has gained a high profile in thesustainable investment industry in Australia and has been invited topresent at several conferences and seminars including Clean Tech Forum2005 and 2006, CPA National Congress 2006, Climate Change and Business2006; Environment Business Australia 2006 forum.
