COLUMN
Two more weeks to go and the fifth Triple Bottom Line Investing Conference will take place, in Amsterdam. When I started the event five years ago, it was clear to me that the key to sustainable economy was gaining the support and commitment of the financial sector. It is with great pleasure to see that this is happening on a daily basis. The value added of triple bottom line investing to society is being seen and accepted by the financial sector, as it clearly aligns with risk reduction, performance, governance, and climate change. To move to the next level of full tbli integration, financial leaders are going to have to make the commitment. Senior management will have to make that commitment, empower and provide incentives to its employees toward tbli. The same effort that companies put into winning market share, building up reputation, recruiting, developing new products, should be given to this vast industry. Carbon finance, private equity, public equity (SRI), micro finance, bonds, real estate are all massive growth areas that will
be using sustainable criteria to meet all goals of financial, social
and environmental performance.
Your support is making this happen. Thank you.

of life you exchange for it."

TBLI 2003 will be celebrating its fifth anniversary on November 6-7, 2003 in Amsterdam. Triple Bottom Line Investing 2003 is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Maximizing both shareholder and stakeholder value, at reduced risk is key to triple bottom line investing. The theme this year is commitment. Looking at the fully integrated social, environmental and financial performance is becoming more and more the norm for the financial sector. This value added "non-financial" risk assessment, or intangible assets and liabilities approach includes public equity, private equity, bonds, micro-financing, etc. Companies are seeing the financial opportunity of TBLI, and need to update staff on all the opportunities, risks, benefits and methodology.
Still haven't registered for TBLI conference? TBLI is filling up fast, and registration is closing shortly. With over 90 leading speakers and over 500 guests anticipated, it is clear why TBLI is seen as the SRI event of the year. If you can only attend one event on SRI or corporate governance, this is it.

Recruitment
in CSR:
A scarcity of top candidates in The Financial Times
(September
29, 2003)
Companies face tough competition for experienced CSR pros
Recruiters are struggling to fill the large gap in the market for
corporate social responsibility (CSR) professionals, reports Sarah
Murray in the Financial Times. According to the findings of a UK
Department of Trade and Industry working group, the CSR profession
remains fragmented, with practitioners coming from highly diverse
backgrounds. Although there is no clearly defined ideal skill set
for CSR experts, recruiters cite a global outlook and broad experience
in both the private and public sectors as key qualifications.
