TBLI ACADEMY Class

Introduction to Sustainable Investment
Part I – Awareness

Six Hours/One Day
This session covers the broad range of issues related to sustainability and finance. The first part of this workshop focuses on awareness, providing an introduction to sustainability by looking at the background, history and current perspectives in the field. The second half focuses on the market for sustainable finance, SRI methodology, structures, and the most recent news on SRI.

Introduction to Sustainable Investment
Part II – Acceptance

Six Hours/One Day
The second session in this series focuses on real life cases, asset screening, research, engagement methods, available data, and indices. Based on the level of customization required, this workshop may include guest speakers from the SRI field.

Engagement Strategy
Six Hours/One Day
Engagement strategy is achieved by building active relationships with companies, policy makers and other stakeholders to generate greater understanding of social, environmental and ethical risks and opportunities, as well as acting on behalf of clients to encourage improvements in corporate practice and policy frameworks. This one-day course covers the tools and methodologies to implement a comprehensive engagement strategy.

Screening Process and Methodology
Six Hours/One Day
This session helps participants understand how SRI applies a range of filters to screen out sectors and business practices judged to be socially, ethically, and environmentally unacceptable by investors. The associated methodology is examined using current screening models. We then train participants how to use these principles in everyday business decisions.

Social Screening
Six Hours/One Day
This one-day course covers the various aspects of social screening, including establishing guidelines and management systems to implement a human rights policy and maintaining dialogue with stakeholders. Some specific activities related to social screening, such as international workforce, human rights abuse in the supply chain, corruption, and bribery practices are also considered.

Carbon: Markets and Risk Assessment

Three hours/Half Day
Regulations and treaties on carbon-dioxide emissions and green house gases (GHG) have given rise to new markets and risk assessment considerations. This session teaches participants to understand and apply qualitative and quantitative tools to assess the potential implications of climate change and GHG regulations on equity prices, corporate earnings and relative sector risks. Guest speakers who are experts in the field will address potential threats and opportunities from altered climate conditions.

Corporate Ethics Screening
Three Hours/Half Day
This course covers ethical screening methodology. Participants will learn the techniques applied in monitoring corporate actions, annual reports, and the internal and external alignment of company communications. The course also provides insights into accounting scandals and auditing.

Risk Analysis
Three Hours/Half Day
Risk analysis can provide insights into the value of corporate sustainability strategies through a refined understanding of how the strategies might reduce economic cycles and downside risks associated with negative reputation incidents. The impact of sustainability on risk gives additional insights into the growing acceptance of sustainable corporate business practices.
